words of wisdom for a new year

On Saturday night, on the eve of my thirty-fourth birthday, this was the Bible verse in my nightly devotion:

"Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure everything out on your own.  Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He's the one who will keep you on track."
(Proverbs 3:5, The Message)

Granted, turning another year older always gives me pause...always encourages me to reflect just a little more...but given the circumstances of the year ahead - the challenges and opportunities and endeavors I see on the horizon - that verse felt especially relevant and encouraging.
