happy mountain day!
Oh wait…not everyone has the luxury of celebrating Mountain Day, do they? That’s too bad...it was so much fun! Granted, until two months ago, I’d never heard of it either. But there’s something innately cool about a school celebration for which the day’s classes are cancelled and employees can miss work…a celebration centered around being out in the woods and enjoying the natural environment with the rest of the college community.
(9:30 am, after the sunrise hike)
After taking an early-morning moonlit hike to the top of the mountain to see the sun rise, I spent the day at the festival in the woods at the mountain’s base…watching campus dance and music groups perform, eating kettle corn and sloppy joes, feeding the animals at the petting zoo, and spending time with students…it was fantastic, and made even better by the deep sense of community and tradition that could be felt throughout the day.
Totally loved it every minute of it. Happy Mountain Day, everyone!
